Slice, Slice, Baby

Okk so let me just start this off with an apology for the lack of activity on Just a Hangry Girl, both blog and Insta - it's been a hectic couple of weeks! My work experience (which I'm LOVING!!!!) has unfortunately left me without any brain space for blog post writing and innovative cooking sadly resulting in me breaking my New Years Resolution (posting a blog entry every week) but c'mon we are over halfway through 2017 so I think that lasting this long is super impressive, right??

Anyways this week I decided enough was enough, so Just a Hangry Girl is back with a pretty epic dish!! As the title of the post suggests this will be a pizza related recipe but is definitely not of Italian descent!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE ..................................

SUSHI PIZZA!!!!!!!!

TAH-DAH!!!

Erase all images from your brain of a doughy base with raw fish and cheese because when I mentioned my creation to others that is what their first image!

Instead replace that horror with a crispy seaweed base, sticky sushi rice, spicy tuna, salmon, avocado, seaweed salad, masago and a sweet soy sauce - this is a winner for sure!

It sounds complicated I know but honestly well worth the effort and all the toppings can be switched and played around with, just don't get rid of the crispy seaweed! It really makes the dish feel like a pizza as it enables you to pick the slices up as well as giving a much needed 'crunch factor'.

As the rest of the recipe is fairly self explanatory I will just tell you how to make the crispy seaweed base as you just need to follow the packet instructions for the sushi rice and top with whatever you fancy! See it really isn't too hard!!

Sushi Pizza Base (makes 2 bases):

Ingredients
2 Sheets Nori Seaweed, cut into a circle shape
20g plain flour + 2 tablespoons
10g cornstarch
40ml sparkling water
Vegetable Oil for frying

Method
In a bowl combine the flour, cornstarch and water - this is your tempura batter. Pour 2 cm deep of oil into a frying pan and heat until bubbles form around the bottom of a wooden spoon or when some batter is drop in it rises to the top immediately. Lightly dust the nori circle with flour then dip into the batter, ensuring there is a light coating all over. Once the oil is hot enough place the nori in the oil, using chopstick to ensure that it doesn't fold over on itself. Once the oil-down side is browned flip the nori over, I find using chopsticks is the easiest way to do this. Once that side is also golden brown, remove and place on kitchen towel to absorb excess oil. Repeat with the second nori circle.

Top with sushi rice and desired toppings!

Enjoy!!!

Would love to see all your creations so make sure you tag @justahangrygirl in anything you post!

Much Love
