The Fakeaway Roundup

My love for Asian food is well documented on this blog and as I recreate my favourite takeaways pretty much every week I thought I'd bring them all together on one list for what I'm calling The Fakeaway Roundup!!

#1 Sweet and Sour Chicken

Ingredients:
1 chicken breast, cubed
1 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp cider vinegar
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp hot water, plus extra for coating the chicken
1 tsp siracha
1 garlic clove, diced

Method:

Coat the chicken cubes in some cornstarch. Heat the sesame oil in a pan over a medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown and slightly crispy. Add the rest of the ingredients straight to the pan and allow the sauce to simmer and thicken!

#2 Chicken Dumpling Soup

Ingredients:
500ml Chicken broth
1 clove garlic
3 x 2inch slices of ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp mirin
Leftover grilled chicken, diced
1 spring onion, chopped
1 tablespoon hoisin
Gyoza Skins

Method:
Bring the broth to a boil and add the garlic, ginger, soy and mirin and allow to simmer for 20mins. After the flavours have infused remove the garlic and ginger. Combine the chicken with the spring onion and hoisin, take a small amount and place in the centre of the gyoza skin, fold in half. Repeat until the chicken has been used up. Place the dumplings into the soup and boil for a couple of minutes until they are soft.

#3 Salmon Teriyaki Cubes

Ingredients:
1 Salmon fillet, cubed
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp sesame oil

Method:
Heat the oil in a pan and add the salmon skin side down. Once cooked and skin crispy add the soy and honey and allow it to thicken.

#4 Lighter Chicken Katsu

#5 Marmite Chicken

#6 Hoisin Chicken with Brown Rice, Crispy Kale and Roasted Broccoli

#7 Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs

Ingredients:
1 chicken breast, minced
1/2 cup breadcrumbs, GF or normal
3 tbsp teriyaki sauce

Method
In a bowl combine the minced chicken breast with 1 tbsp of teriyaki sauce and the breadcrumbs until it all comes together. Roll into balls, and in a pan over a medium heat sear the on all sides until golden on the outside and cooked on the inside. Add the rest of the teriyaki sauce into the pan and simmer until thickened. Serve with egg fried rice or stir fried vegetables for the perfect Asian fakeaway!

Much Love
